Curve-balls

I have a friend that I talk to on and off when I can that has honestly been there for me through thick and thin. Told me what they consider is the truth of this world. Of this life. They opened me up to a whole new other way of thinking, and while it was scary, it was also beautiful because I took the words like slamming into a brick wall. Whether in entirety, everything we talked about was officially true or not, doesn't matter at the moment. The one thing I keep coming back to is how they told me "Life is like that, it can throw you curve-balls", "you have to deal with the curve-balls"... Curve-balls, curve-balls, curve-balls. etc.

I thought about that and realized... You know what, no matter what path you choose in life, you're going to get a curve-ball in some way, shape or form anyway. But if life throws you a curve-ball, should you take it? Should you let it rule over you? No. Sometimes, while life can throw you curve-balls, sometimes it's just way to late to see the curve-ball and it will hit you in the face when you least expect it. While those can hurt, depending on the severity of a problem, I have to wonder if a curve-ball is actually an illusion or not. Sometimes, I feel we can make our own curve-balls and not even realize it that we did it by accident. Maybe in the long run, the curve-ball is real.
Even if it is. Why not try to catch it and throw it back if you can see it coming? I'm not saying to avoid a situation, but why not? I always hear that you have to take them and move on. But does it have to be that way because someone told you it's the way it has to be? Are you setting yourself up for a problem to be, or could be, in stone? If the curve-ball is giving you problems. What's wrong with, being simple, and...I don't know...Throwing it back?
This was my answer to my friend:

"I really don't know. =| I mean, all I can do is take that next curve-ball, catch it, and throw it the heck back at the world and move on. Keep shining on, do what I can to be happy, etc.

To me, I gained another life-learning level of experience I never had otherwise. I feel it will help me continue being a stronger person in the long run. I thank them. =)

-----------------------------------------------

Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding.... Do not be wise in your own eyes.

I know this isn't in the Bible, but I always find my way back to it:

Serenity Prayer - God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.
Living one day at a time;
Enjoying one moment at a time;
Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace;
Taking, as He did, this sinful world
as it is, not as I would have it;
Trusting that He will make all things right
if I surrender to His Will;
That I may be reasonably happy in this life
and supremely happy with Him
Forever in the next.
Amen.
